First Splash Pad Trip

After a few days of wet weather, we took advantage of this morning's sunshine by heading to the splash pad. This was Wyatt's first time to go and he loved it! It worked out great too, because we were the only ones there(plus my friend, Hayley and her daughter, Maddie) and the sun stayed out!
Even with the wet weather, I just can't keep this kid indoors. He tears the place up, bounces off the walls and gets in lots of trouble.

Wyatt Turns One!

Our Lil Red has grown so much, weighing in at 23 lbs 5 oz. (80th percentile) and standing 33 inches tall (100+ percentile). He has proven to be allergic to pet dander, peanuts and anything with fragrance will cause his eczema to flare up.

He can say mama, dada, dog, tree, ball and will sign "all done" and sometimes "more." He loves his cars and trucks to push around the house, and is always a pretty happy guy. He has taken up to seven steps but isn't a walker yet. He wears size four diapers and size 12-18 month clothes. He's down to one bottle a day and has whole milk in his sippy cup with meals and snacks. Some of his favorite foods are cheese, strawberries, hamburgers, hot dogs, pineapples, and teddy grahams. He sleeps from about 7:30 to 7:00, and naps about 3 or 4 hours a day.

At the doctor for his check up. The tough little guy got three shots and did not even cry. The nurse was amazed and so was I.

He got a new haircut!

Oh Geez

Yesterday afternoon,  I put Braylon down for a nap then went to make myself some lunch. While I was making it, Wyatt crawled back to Braylon's room. Then when I went to go get him, I walked into a big ol' mess of baby powder. Note to self, never leave baby powder within reach of a three-year-old....even when you think he's old enough to know not to mess with it. I was mad at the time but then thought it was pretty funny seeing Wyatt all covered in powder and the room looking like it had snowed in there. They had fun for a brief minute or two, then mommy spent at least an hour cleaning it all up.

Wyatt's First Birthday Party

We celebrated Wyatt's first birthday yesterday morning. We had all the family in town including my brother, his wife and son, my sister, her husband and son, my parents, Brad's parents, his sister Ali with her kids Brady and Kenzie, his sister Emily with her husband, Bob and their kids, Luke, Tate and Elle.  My cousin, Cody made the trip with his son, Garrett, as well.

The kids had a variety of things to keep them entertained while the adults visited,  supervised, and played ladder golf. The new sand table, mini roller coaster, bounce house, and dump trucks were a big hit at the party. I think Wyatt loved every minute of it. He devoured his Mighty Fine burger (shout out to Andy and Ali for making those happen. Thx again!), and chocolate cupcake like it was nothin'. Our Lil Red was a happy camper :)  He goes to the doctor for his check up on Tuesday, so I will post more about his growth and progress then. For now, here are some photos from the party.

We did this same activity at Braylon's first birthday where they crawl (or walk) to items representing different careers to predict what they will be in the future. I used a baseball for baseball player, drum for entertainer, book for scholar, stethoscope for doctor, and rocking horse for farmer. Brad and I both thought farmer but Wyatt went straight for the baseball.

The Adventures of the Volker & Brandon Boys

This Thursday, Luke and Tate got to come to Huntsville and spend a couple days with me, my boys, and Grampa Rollie. They had a blast throwing rocks in a creek, riding bikes and scooters, digging in dirt, fishing and riding the ranger. And I loved watching the boys play together and explore!

Duck Pond

Last week I took the boys to the duck pond and Sam Houston Museum grounds for a picnic lunch. They loved it! Braylon made friends with two random boys, and Wyatt loved seeing the ducks for the first time.
