Fall

We went outside today after Braylon's morning nap to enjoy the cooler weather and a nice breeze.  He was obsessed with the grass.  He wanted to crawl in it, pull it, and put it in his mouth.  And of course the dogs couldn't resist giving him sloppy kisses.

Duke was the first to sneak in a kiss.

I love this one.  Braylon laughed when Gus had his head on his shoulder.

Showin' Gus some love.

Determination

Braylon has been trying to pull himself up on everything.  Here he is trying to pull up on the jumperoo.  His face makes me laugh because he looks so determined!

Pillow Pet

Braylon loves his froggy pillow pet he got from Nana & Papa before he was even born.  He puts his face in it and sometimes ends up scooting it around the floor.  Those things are so soft.  I'm thinking about getting one of my own :)

Crawling

Braylon started crawling this past weekend.  He has his own style of crawling where he kinda pushes with his right foot on the floor.

Where does he think he's goin'? He started crawling down the hallway and stopped to peek behind the entertainment center.  Gotta keep a close eye on this curious little mover.

Squirmy Worm

Braylon has been moving all over the place.  I was changing his diaper and before I could grab a new one, his little naked booty had rolled over and started to sit up.  He just looked up and smiled at me.  It made me laugh :)  Guess I will have to learn to put diapers on backwards.

Weekend in Rockwall

Braylon and I went to Rockwall this weekend while Daddy was dove hunting in South Texas.  Braylon got to see his Nana & Papa, his great Granny, and his new cousin, Mabry.
Braylon & Papa

I got to hold sweet little Mabry Adair Mitchell.

Friday night we went to Saltgrass and Braylon loved their bread.

We had to lower Braylon's crib mattress last weekend because he can now pull himself up on things.  He just woke up in his pack-n-play at Nana & Papa's.

Self-Feeding

Braylon's hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills have really developed, so we thought we'd see how he did trying to feed himself.  It can be a little scary watching him bite off a big chunk as we sit nervously hoping he doesn't choke....BUT he just ends up spitting it out or smooshing it in his mouth.  So far he's munched on a cracker(without salt), potato, and banana.  Here he is feeding himself a banana.

New Swing

Daddy hung Braylon's new swing.  He's not that impressed by it yet.  He is smiling here, but he was really just laughing at Duke & Gus fighting over a stick nearby.  He loves those dogs.

Just Hangin' Out

Last week we were fortunate enough to have some cooler weather, so Braylon and I played outside quite a bit.  He loved looking around at the trees and seemed relaxed by the cool breeze :)

6 Month Check-Up

Our little munchkin had his 6 month check-up today.  The poor thing had four shots and one oral vaccine.  He fell right to sleep in the car on the way home.  He weighed 18 lbs 9 0z(about the 70th percntile) and was 28" tall(100th percentile).  The doctor said we are now free to feed him anything that isn't a choking hazard, so I'm curious to see how he likes meats and dairy...
waiting for the doctor to come in

Push-Up

Braylon has been doing a push-up lately, where he'll hold his body up in push-up position.  It's amazing how strong a little baby can be.

Clifford was a big hit!

Nana got Braylon, Clifford, the big red dog.  He laughed and laughed when Papa was playing with him!

6 Months Old

Memories & Milestones:  This past month, Braylon went to the park for the first time and loved the swings.  He even swung on his own and didn't get scared when we pushed him high.  He constantly babbles, plays with his feet, and sticks toes in his mouth...he can entertain himself quite a while doing those three things.  He can get on all fours and rock back and forth, and even get his legs going forward, but just not the arms yet.  He will sit up with no support pretty well now.  He can get from laying to sitting on his own.  He absolutely loves his jumperoo and his dogs.  He usually takes two naps a day ranging from an hour to two hours, and sleeps about ten hours through the night(usually 9-7).  His favorite foods are sweet potatoes, peas, pears with cinnamon & oatmeal, and blended fruits with oatmeal.  Braylon makes a "bull face" where he scrunches his nose and blows out his nose.  It's not the cutest face, but it makes Mommy and Daddy laugh.  He is very ticklish on his feet and ribs, among other places.  He is a very happy baby who smiles a lot, especially at other kids.  Strangers do not scare him yet, and they can almost always get a smile out of him. He also recognizes his name, and usually enjoys to watch and listen intently as you read or sing to him.
