Brad the Builder

We had been wanting a farmhouse table for the back porch, so I showed Brad what I wanted and he got to work. He finished the table in one day, and did such a great job! We love it! It is ten feet long with plenty of room for family gatherings and parties. I found a set of six farmhouse chairs on ebay for $200! We got a good deal because they're great quality. Brad had a guy pick them up in Magnolia. He stained them to match the table, and then decided we needed a matching bench. He built that while we were in Rockwall and it looks perfect with the table! We broke it in this weekend with a baby shower I hosted. Brad's table got lots of compliments and accommodated all the guests!

Visit to Rockwall & Dallas

Last weekend, the boys and I ventured off to Dallas and Rockwall. We stopped to see my Granny on Friday at the Walnut Creek Rehab Center in Dallas. She is there for a few weeks to rehabilitate her broken neck- OUCH! I was surprised to see her in great spirits and healthier than before! I was so proud of her for hangin' in there and making the best of the situation. It was so good to see her!!

After our visit with Granny,  we went about 8 miles down the road to see the Brandons and Gramma Dar! Luke, Tate, Wyatt and Braylon played so well together, and it was such a joy to see them together at these ages. The next morning, the Brandon's headed off to soccer games, so we headed to Rockwall. My mom and I took the boys to a cute lil farm/pumpkin patch, while my Dad and Blake golfed. Later that evening, we grilled out and congratulated Blake on his big promotion he's been eagerly awaiting. After a fun filled day, we all crashed at Nana and Papa's.

Sunday morning after breakfast, we went back to Plano to watch Luke's first official hockey game! Boy was he pumped, and it was so cute to see him skating around like a pro ;) We finally hit the road around 2 and were happy to be home with Daddy. He got a lot accomplished with us gone. He finished up the farmhouse table he made for the back porch, stained the chairs we found on ebay, and made a matching bench for the table. He also helped out a friend building a hay barn.

Here's a few pics from recent happenings around the Volker Ranch...

Eat 'Em Up Kats

Last Saturday our family of four went to our first Bearkat game of the season! We had fun for a little bit, but had to leave in the third quarter...Wyatt was DONE! It is just too hard for a two-year-old to keep it together for that long. Despite some spilled popcorn, soda, sno cones, and bumping into the little old lady in front, Wyatt didn't do too bad. Braylon was great and actually enjoys the game. Him and Daddy will have a blast at the next one (without mom and Wyatt).

Hiking

A couple weeks ago, Grampa Rollie, the boys, and myself went to the Huntsville State Park for a hike. The boys checked out the fishing piers, played on the playgrounds, chased some bunnies, and were troopers on our four mile hike. We will definitely be back once it cools off again!
