Riding with Bubba

First Day of School

Braylon and Wyatt are in school one day a week now. They had their first day yesterday! Braylon, of course, was excited and woke up saying "I'm ready for my first day of school, Mom!" Wyatt, on the other hand, had no clue what was about to hit him. Five whole hours without Mommy, WHOA!

He surprisingly handled drop-off like a pro with no tears. Then when I arrived to pick him up, he was standing right up against the teacher's leg as she changed another little boy's diaper. I said "Uh-oh. Did we have a rough day (as two other little boys were balling)?" Wyatt wasn't really crying at the time, but you could tell he had been. His teacher told me he was fine as long as she was sitting on the floor interacting with all the kids, but as soon as she stood up, I guess he fussed.

Braylon's teacher also told me Wyatt saw his brother on the playground and started crying :'( Poor kid wanted his Bubba, but couldn't have him. They play on the same playground, but the little toddler area where Wyatt was is sectioned off from the big kids' playground. I expected it to be difficult for Wyatt, since the kid has never been away from me, unless he's with Daddy. Hopefully, in a few weeks, he will be excited for school and over the separation anxiety!

I'm very excited for this year, because I know it will be so great for the boys....not just educationally, but also socially. Plus, Mommy really gets so much more done without them! ;)

Here they are before school; Braylon is making an awful "CHEESE!" face, and Wyatt won't stand still. Good times.

Braylon's New Ride

We have been looking for a power wheels car for Braylon for about a year now, and Brad finally found one on Craigslist. He picked it up yesterday, and Braylon was pumped. When I got home from running errands, he drove up to me and said "Hey, what's up Mom?" He thought he was so cool driving his own Ranger like Daddy's. Unfortunately, he is not the best driver yet, and seems to think his car is indestructible. Hopefully, he'll get the hang of it soon (before Brad has a heart attack)!!

Wyatt at 15 Months

Wyatt is so funny these days. As he turns 15 months next week, I feel like he has changed a lot since his first birthday. He reminds me of Braylon when he was little, because he wants to be outside all the time and he LOVES books now. We read, and read, and read, and he soaks up every little bit. He can point out flower, sun, cow, dog, duck, star, tree, monkey, and bird. He knows where nose, mouth, eyes, toes, and belly are, too. He loves to sing along with the show "Bubble Guppies," and will sometimes just start humming and singing out of nowhere. Along with singing, he will attempt to say new words now. He is growing up so fast!!

Last week I took the boys to check out the new playscape at the Woodlands Mall. Wyatt was more interested in the rows of candy dispensers right outside the play area, so I spent a lot of time chasing him and bringing him back inside the play area. I could kill whoever decided it'd be smart to put candy there. I'm not a fan! Plus, this new play area was much smaller than the old one. Bigger kids that had no business being there were running around knocking the little ones over, including Wyatt. Needless to say, we stayed about thirty minutes, then went upstairs to the carousel.

Braylon has always loved the carousel, but Wyatt was less than thrilled. It was his first time riding one, and he immediately wanted down. I don't think we'll be going back to the mall anytime soon.

Amusing Videos of Wyatt

Luke Robert Brandon's Sports Agent making a deal:

This one you have to wait until the end. The black cow starts walking towards Wyatt, and he hurriedly walks in the opposite direction. But then he suddenly stops to say "moo."

Food Bank

On Saturday, Braylon and I volunteered handing out food to people in need. It was the second time I've done this through my Junior League, and it was amazing to see all the people who came through there.  They are so appreciative of what little food we can give them. I loved being a part of it, and my favorite part was seeing Braylon help. He sorted out the food as it arrived and passed put plums to the people in line. If someone passed him without his plums, Braylon would say "hey you forgot your plums." It was funny and really cute!

He met some friends and played tag for a while.
Some of the food donated was pineapples, plums, large hams, porkchops, bratwurst, ground turkey, ground beef, Italian sausage, lunch meat, bacon, breakfast
